The Refuge of Scarcity

At this Mexico beach resort, there’s no shortage of people, food, beverages, and sand. The resplendent sunshine beams everywhere, drenching everyone with its limitless power. So what could anyone possibly want for in this magnificent place?

In a word, shade.

While there are scores of loungers and a handful of welcome palm trees along the resort’s generous beachfront, there is only one lone thatched hut of dried palm leaves — a palapa — from which to take complete and total cover from the relentless Mexican sunshine.

Despite being an early riser, the competition for the single palapa is fierce. Get there a few minutes late and you’re out of luck - no palapa for you. Instead, you’ll hope for the distant second place partial shade of a palm tree.

While I love the sun, ultimately I want to enjoy the breeze and view from refuge of the palapa. While there may be numerous palapas to choose from at other resorts, obviously the single palapa here is the definition of scarcity. You get one chance each day — that’s it.

While an increasing number of people across the world continue to open new Bitcoin wallets as awareness of the revolutionary asset spreads, the majority of the general public remains unaware of the value of holding a truly scarce asset. Bitcoin is not just scarce, but a discovery of cryptographically-enforced scarcity.

It’s my conviction that there will come a day — far sooner than many think — when Bitcoin’s value has elevated to such (currently inconceivable) heights that the term “Whole Coiner” emerges in common financial discourse. Few will be able to purchase a single, whole Bitcoin at that point.

While government profligacy is as abundant as the sunshine currently bathing the hundreds of guests at this resort, make no mistake — Bitcoin is the lone palapa providing needed refuge.
